104 – Professor Tamara Davis (Cosmologist, Astrophysicist)
Professor Tamara Davis is a Cosmologist and Astrophysicist. What’s the difference? Well you can either google it, or you can listen to Tamara explain it herself.
Tamara one of a growing number of Australian women working in physics and the science field. Tamara’s main jam is trying to understand what dark energy and dark matter is through the WiggleZ Dark Energy survey which has mapped over 220,000 galaxies to date. Wrap your head around that!
Once again, this is another example of being completely out of my depth and asking a lot of ignorant questions. The bright side is that I managed to get some fantastic insights from Tamara and gain a *slight* understanding of her research and work to date.
Professor Davis has been honoured with many achievements to date include the 2011 Australian Institute of Physics Women in Physics Lectureship, the 2011 Queensland Tall Poppy Award, the 2009 Australian L’Oreal Women in Science Fellowship and the Astronomical Society of Australia’s Early Career Research Award. Tamara is no joke!
Don’t be fearful of an overwhelming conversation surrounding physics and the cosmos. Let your pal Andy lead the way and show you that it never hurts to ask questions!
I really hope you enjoy this fantastic episode and please reach out to Tamara via her website or Twitter!
