200 – Andrew Farriss (INXS, Solo Artist)

Andrew Farriss is an iconic Australian multi-instrumentalist and song writer, best know for his work in INXS.

Hailed by many as one of the world’s great song writers, Andrew has 12 albums with INXS under his belt and over 60 singles during his career with various artists from around the globe. Andrew co-wrote all but one of INXS’ top 40 hits – The guy knows how to write a song!

Andrew is releasing his debut solo album due out on 15 May 2020 and has just released the second single “Good Momma Bad” which is available now on YouTube and all streaming services. EDIT: Due to the events of 2020, Andrew pushed his album back to March 2021. You can listen to my more recent conversation with Andrew on episode 281 HERE.

I caught up with Andrew at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney for a chat about the upcoming album, his recent award as a Member of the Order of Australia and some great INXS stories from days gone by.

199 – Bob Nalbandian (Director and Producer – Inside…

Bob Nalbandian is the man behind the early 80s LA Fanzine “The Headbanger” which helped bands such as Metallica and Slayer and many others get exposure in their early days of being a band.

Bob has gone on to work in many facets of the music industry from A&R and Marketing for several record labels to in more recent years Directing, Writing and Producing various metal documentaries. Bob has launched several LA Metal documentaries under the Inside Metal series, the Band vs Brand Documentary and hosts the Shockwaves Skullsessions Podcast.

Bob is currently working on the upcoming Bay Area Godfathers documentary due out in early 2020.

Lindsay McDougall is the guitarist from Frenzal Rhomb, former Triple J Radio Host and current host of the Drive on ABC Illawarra, 97.3FM.

We caught up at the ABC Studios in Wollongong to chat about working in radio, Frenzal, playing with Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies and more.

Joel Coldron is a Falconer and ex-British Soldier. Currently working as the Head Falconer at Rushmoor Farm Park in the UK, Joel has been working with birds of prey for the past decade.

In this chat I chew Joel’s ear off about birds of prey, how he got into Falconry, how these amazing birds are used for pest control (?!?!) and his background in the British Military.

Kit Ekman is one of the biggest Heavy Metal supporters I know. A writer and reviewer for Metal Chaos Magazine, part-time mascot for US band Night Demon and travels throughout North America and Europe multiple times a year attending metal shows and festivals.

Kit is dedicated! We chat about his love of metal, the clear decisions he made when it came to dedicating himself to his passions, the travel and the relationships that he’s built not only with other metal fans from all over the world, but many bands who he supports in his travels.

Bestie and band mate, Mark Furtner of LORD and FromBeyond. Mark loves weights, ESP guitars and eating eggs (see episode 167 with guitar master Brett Garsed where Mark asks the important egg questions).

I caught up with Mark after we did an intense session of signing album covers for our new album Fallen Idols and spoke about a whole range of different topics from his home security system (aka Fort Knox), to health and well being, being several years off alcohol, his love of ESP Guitars and heaps more.
